2000s

Bacon consumption is now stable at 8kg per head – 42% of bacon eaten in sandwiches, 39% as cooked breakfast. No longer considered a luxury (which it was 150 years ago), bacon is now well and truly part of the UK staple diet.

Sales show significant growth – and research shows that bacon is still the most frequently eaten meat in the UK, with almost 90% of us buying it, nearly 60% of all consumers buying it every month and nearly half buying it at least once a week. It just goes to show you Anglo-Saxons can’t resist a bit of bacon, particularly Danish!
